Bermuda Bound

Last week I started a Bermuda Scarf with Noro Silk Garden Sock. The pattern is not hard, but you need to pay attention and keep track of where you are. It also helps to have some experience with short rows.

This is my Bermuda. It is not very Caribbean looking, but that's ok by me.

As always, you can find us at Knitomatic.com!

Finished - Instant Gratification Scarf

I finished my Instant Gratification Scarf last week too - very fast, this one was also stuck in photography. It was super easy & fast! Used just 1 skein of Malabrigo Rasta in Solis with 12mm needles. I cast on 7 sts because I didn't know how far it would go, but in retrospect I could have done 9 or 11 easily.

Ice Cable Freebies

Those Brits sure do like their ice cables (if you didn't know what an ice cable was before, you sure will now). I know you are fed up with woolly outerwear by this pooint in the season, but the socks, hat, hot water bottle cozy, and purse are still appropriate. Actually, the hot water bottle cover looks like an easy project, except for the fancy-shmantzy cables.

Scarf Basics for Beginners

Scarf Basics for Beginners
• If you knit 1 row & purl the next row (stocking stitch) the scarf will ALWAYS curl at the edges.
• When you are ready to change balls of yarn, switch at the beginning of the row. Tie a loose knot leaving about 5 inches of tail – you will weave in the ends later.
• the average width for a winter scarf is 6”, for a skinny scarf is 4”
