feetsies pluto style

feetsies drying

feetsiesdrying, originally uploaded by myhighfiber.

i finished the second feetsie due to a discourse of convoluted consumer rationalization.

1. the baby blanket is not going to be finished by this saturday for the baby shower.

2. i need a baby gift.

3. i was at h&m and they had cute & cheap & crappy baby stuff there.

4. i fell for a jungle green purse. but the expense?

5. it is a moral imperative to give a high quality baby gift.

6. the only way to reconcile green bag love and high gifting standards is to offer up the feetsies that were for maggie & gift them to my cousin.

it's all about compromise.

dia-mitts finished

diamittsfinished, originally uploaded by myhighfiber. this week is brought to you by the number 2. i made the second dia-mitt over my weekend and made an icord to join them (they are guaranteed to get seprarted & lost without some kind of joining mechanism. one i-cord is sewed down, the second has a snap to keep it in place. not brain surgery, but they are good things.

herringbone manos

another UFO off the books ... misocrafty manos herringbone scarf i started for my dad. the story with the scarf was that the hand dyed yarn used for half knitted up all random but the second skein knitted totally symmetrical! some crazy ass yarn shit goin' on. thanks to liane for disposing of this albatross.

plaid mitts

plaidmitts, originally uploaded by myhighfiber.

last night at stitch n bitch i finished the plaid mittens that i started for katie last winter. SNB was busy, fall is so much fun. BTW, the store is open on sundays now and i'm in da house, so pop by for a visit!

adjustments i would make next time:

  • work cuff in K1P1 rib
  • reduce by 2 to 4 sts (they are a bit wide)
  • make cuff a bit longer (damnable cold canadian winters)

michelle & lucy visited last week. lucy is already talking! auspiciously, her first word is hat and i'm pretty sure that she was checking out my t-shirt the other day too. i'm not sure if it passed baby approval but it's a pretty cool t-shirt even if it is yellow. a great sense of style runs in that family, i took lucy's siblings shopping and ended up picking up a few packs of the same camouflage socks they picked out. there may be no fashion police byt lucy's older sister fairhurst is certainly the chief justice of the supreme court of style. :-) and of course michelle totally digs my yellow chinese floral summer slippers. i thought they were in the flow, but nobody really gets them, they just refer to them as "haley shoes".

super wednesday

i accomplished next to nothing this weekend. i'm sorry. i'll see if i can do anything today to post for you. and i'll take out the camera for stitch n bitch. i think the missoni baby blanket is actually going well though. i've been making a swatch for it. seems like a good idea. i surrendered to the fact that the professionals swatch first for a good reason. hee-hee! i'm not a designer, i'm an artist, and i'm a process oriented artist too, i like it the hard way, the unplanned path. i'm sorry. i'll see if i can do anything today to post for you. and i'll take out the camera for stitch n bitch. is it easier to read the font like this? i often wonder .... hey, check out this gorgeous knitterly sweater by sarah ... the green one called "forecast". it's going to look sensational on her! i like it in the dark green, i'm diggin' the urban warrior jungle green. OMG! ramona just sent me this (i'm multi tasking, i blog while i'm doing work at the computer)! if i was drinking my morning tea i'd snarf! just in time for halloween, it's a Princess Leia Hat! hee-hee! and since i don't have any pictures and i have work to do ... i'll offer you a blog thing:
You Are a Mermaid
You are a total daydreamer, and people tend to think you're flakier than you actually are. While your head is often in the clouds, you'll always come back to earth to help someone in need. Beyond being a caring person, you are also very intelligent and rational. You understand the connections of the universe better than almost anyone else.

finished feetsie. hope it fits. size newborn.

wavy baby

wavy baby, originally uploaded by myhighfiber.

with 1 hour to spare i finished my day's allotment!

busy hands

just as i fisnished my first feetsie i got ANOTHER invite to a baby shower in the mail. i knew my cousin rocko would finally have that forthcoming baby but i've procrastinated the blanket i promised to design for the occasion. actually, the desiging is the easy part. i also have to knit it. it's family (liane offered to make it while she works but i don't feel right about that. it should have some haleyness in it). i've broken down the number of rows/inches i need to accomplish each day to get it done in 15 days. there's a built in buffer, plus, i don't want to drag it out. so, how boring are baby blankets to knit? pretty boring. back and forth, back and forth i go, where i stop, nobody knows, each time i stop there will be 13 rows! so i don't have time to take pictures & stuff today, i'm under pressure to knit. but in more interesting news, New York Fashion Week started today, so i'll be knitting along to the shows as they come online!

feetsie 2

feetsie 2, originally uploaded by myhighfiber.

hey, busy weekend. not very, but not mucho needlework. i actually accomplished much other 'life' stuff (you know, my other extra-curricular activites). i cleaned out my closet and brought out the fall clothes & put away summer. also did so much laundry i'm awash (ha-ha!) in clean bloomers and sundry unmentionables. also got some exercise yesterday and got together with old friends from oaktown (the big O) last night. now i'm back, busy as a bee at work! see ya tomorrow night (except marla, she's off to winnipeg).

oh yeah, knitting ... i made a 'feetsie' with leftover koigu. i wrote the pattern today and i'll post it when it is done (gotta try the feetsies on some sample babies and see how they fit.
