dutch dreams

this will be the next store project, also IRO, muy enjoyment!

a funny thing just happened ....
a man called the store and said "hi" in a familiar manner. i didn't recognize his voice so I asked who it was;
- "your slave"
I don't remeber hiring a slave, let alone owning one; I can't even afford my car. so i asked;
- "um, i'm not sure who you are" assuming it must be a friend or a beau joking around.
- "your submissive slave" he replied. Ahhh, I'm extra clued out now. If I was into submissive men i suspect i'd have been married many years ago.
- "I'm your sumbissive slave, I'll do anything you want." lightbulb! still no clue who this is, but if i had a sumissive slave i'd ....
- "would you like to clean the store and stock yarn?"
He consented but was really more intersted in my feet. He asked if he could help the customers and i thought maybe not, he doesn't really know much about yarn.

personally, I think it was a poor sales pitch, unprofessional. I'm more comfortable with an upfront approach like;
"Hi, I'm a submisive slave looking for a benevolent mistress with great shoes. I specialize in cleaning, laundry and give professional pedicures, all in exchange for the very low price of adoring your feet."

.... it could make for an interesting hybrid-business! :-)

this is one of the sets I'm working on ... i'm most of the way through the hat and can't wait to get to the scarf! it's knit in NORO IRO. I know it sounds decadent, but i think it'll be well worth it! I love Iro; i love knitting with Iro, i love crocheting iro, i love wearing iro. it's just fetching stuff!

sorry i've been 'incommunicado' lately. I finshied the felted basket bag, must take a photo & load it. felting it was sooooooo fun!

right now i'm working on a bunch of store samples: the wrap by teva durham, some funky hat & scarf sets and doing some design for the magazine.

Speaking of which, excellent news! SPUN is gearing back up and we are high on fiber! stick girl and ms. snit are revved and the triumverate is ready to go-go.

Blackout Festival In Kensington Market August 14th!

samba elegua night Originally uploaded by knitomatic.
Sun August 14th: Fire - Blackout Festival / Kensington Unplugged Time: 12 noon - 6pm (until 10pm on North Augusta) Streets: Augusta, Baldwin and Kensington This is definitely be there of be square event. And how did I find out? let me spin you a yarn ..... i was napping last sunday evening after retruning home from sailing. I don't know why, but relaxing all afternoon is very draining. I even took a nice long nap with my favorite 2 year old belowdecks (i was the only dispensible body who could stomach being below for the compulsory nap inducing snuggle) anyway, i'm napping in the early evening and i wake to the sound of TAMBOURINES. tambourines? i only know one person who plays the tambourine. i felt like sleeping beauty awakening to the rhythms of prince percussion. i throw on some clothes and run downstairs and there's no tambourine, but i hear DRUMS! lots of drums. I only know one person who plays lots of drums, the same person who plays the tambourine, but i've never heard it from my house. the pied pipe is calling. i jump in the car and follow the sound down to u of t, and low and behold there is a SAMBA ORCHESTRA playing drums and tambourines on the lawn in front of Hart House! So i stayed to watch (always with knitting). They were practicing for the upcoming street festival in kensington market, and they're damn good! they are SAMBA ELEGUA and apparently anyone can join. it's like an equal opportunity samba band. and if you don't have any rhythm, that's ok, they'll teach you (or put up with you until you learn). coolio. when the lights went out in 2003 i was in the air making my way to vangroovy, but from what i gather this party is going to be a great big fiesta, a bacchanal of costumes and dancing and partying outside. in short, a menagerie. and if you know me you know how much i love a menagerie!

well, here is the felted door mat. it looks pretty much like it did before it was felted. i think i'd like to throw it in for another good wash and see if it shrivels some more. all in all, it's pretty sturdy, but i'd like it to get nice and dense.
