We're Holding a Yarn Swap! Happy Birthday! To celebrate Knit-O-Matic's 4th birthday and our owner Haley's 35th Birthday we're holding a yarn swap party! Refreshments will be served and yarn fun will be had by all. Attendance is FREE and you don't have to partake in the yarn swap if you don't want to. What is a Yarn Swap? A yarn swap is a big eco-friendly redistribution of yarn, needles and craft supplies. Bring in the crafty stuff you never want to see again and deposit it in one of our baskets. Poke around at all the other donations and take whatever you like. If you don't have any yarn to bring that's ok, you can still take whatever you like. Don't be embarrassed by the quality of yarn you bring, whatever is left over is donated to charities like Street Knit, Sistering Toronto, Women's Shelters and the Hospital for Sick Children, most of whom prefer acrylic! Sunrise Crochet Shrug Buy Now

This is a simple, easy to crochet shrug with raglan shaping and short sleeves. You can use any type of worsted weight yarn, but keep in mind that anything with a significant amount (30% or more) of silk in it will grow of it's own accord. Suggestions are included if you want to make the sleeves longer or cinch in the back. The back is made separately from the arms, which are then sewn on (don't worry, it's easy!) and then the border is worked around.

i'm still working on the "what makes you hate a LYS" ravelry thread from yesterday - page 37. i don't normally read a lot of this online stuff, i prefer looking at pictures. there's a lot of spleen being vented! gleaning some insights into people, some things i'd rather not know - about people in general, not specific individuals. this thread is HILARIOUS!

Progress Marches On ...



The progress on my Sahara in Dave Svale. I just started the bottom border last night, so not long now! I'm making it longer, I want a tunic for sailing & etc.

The stolen pattern issue has been resolved by asking for my pattern to be taken down. It seems that to get etsy to take it down you have to lawyer up.

I've been sick with a cold since monday. I decided to get back to the starbuck revisions, but it confused even me, so i decided to approach it from a different point of view, from the top down. one i figure out the starting numbers it'll fly.

my mantra is KISSASS: keep it simple, sexy and stylish stupid.

Oy, long bar & bat mitzvah yesterday in niagara falls! the kids kicked ass, they practically led the whole service.

today was going to be weaving in the ends on the instant grat sweater & maybe some pictures if the light was good, show you the sahara progress, but i came into a problem in my e-mail. A young woman who goes by the psedonym "The Bag Doll" (www.thebagdoll.blogspot.com) has takem my Eco Warrior Crochet Bag pattern, including the photo, and is selling it on Etsy as her own .... for the sake of posterity i'll post the listing below, since etsy will be taking it down soon (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10465132). i'm not a copyright nazi, but she didn't even ask me! So i took some time to write to Etsy, and while i was doing that i decided to take a peek and see if she's stolen any others .... several. as a good citizen i wrote to another 3 people to let them know about their own burglaries.

I was going to contact the bag doll and yell a bit but i think i'd prefer it if Etsy just comes down on her hard & heavy.
